The Institute of Sex Research and Forensic Psychiatry at the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf in cooperation with the Correctional Service of the City of Hamburg is honoured to host the 9th International Conference of the International Association for the Treatment of Sexual Offenders (IATSO): Biological, Psychological and Social Issues in Sexual Offending – Towards an Integration of Perspectives.
According to its statutes IATSO ist committed to advocate for humane, dignified, compassionate, ethical, and effective treatment of sexual offenders, to further the knowledge about sexual offending, and to improve the treatment methods for sexual offenders as well as the evalutation of such therapies. Although over the last two decades ther have been various attempts to integrate biological, psychological and social aspects of sexual offending – as well as different treatment methods – these perspectives often remain isolated. This conference will try to enhance the discussion between these different – and sometimes opposing – perspectives and to integrate theoretical models, empirical data as well as therapeutic methods.
