Abstract: Latest Research Findings on the Static-99/Static-99R

Static-99/R is the most widely used sexual offender risk tool in the world. This presentation provides an overview of recent research on the STATIC family of risk assessment tools (Static-99, Static-99R, Static-2002, Static-2002R, BARR-2002R) and introduces the latest version (2016) of the Static-99R coding manual. Participants will be provided with user guidance concerning updated risk category labels, as well as in-depth discussion of what evaluators should infer about individuals based on their STATIC scores. The workshop will also include practice examples demonstrating the changes between the 2003 and 2016 versions of the Static-99/R scoring rules.
